Vocational Colleges/Schools:
North Lawrence Vocational School is located east of Bedford on State Road 58. It accommodates 600 students with 14 programs and is the headquarters of Indiana Laborers Training Institute (approved vocational school. South Central Indiana Education Alliance partnering with Indiana University, Indiana State University, Ivy Tech State College, and Purdue University.

There are approximately 145 physicians, including podiatrists, dentists and chiropractors in Lawrence County. Combined the two hospitals offer a wide range of services designed to meet personal healthcare needs, to include a dialysis center, oncology treatment, sports medicine and MRI and CT scanning.

Private and residential housing and some rental properties are available at moderate cost. There are family and senior citizen apartment complexes available as well as public housing programs for the elderly and low income.

Recreation:
Seven community parks provide swimming, tennis courts, playgrounds and picnic areas. Spring Mill State Park, an area of both scenic as well as historic interest, provides swimming, boating, camping and fishing. One of the finest 18-hole golf courses in southern Indiana is also a part of the park system. Four privately owned golf courses. Five lighted baseball diamonds; Boys Club - equipped with two gymnasium facilities and recreation outlets for 1,200 youngsters; and Limestone Girls Club - 730 members. Also a health spa with an indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, tennis courts, racquetball courts. Lake Monroe , Indiana’s largest man-made lake is 15 miles north.
