Annual Chamber Events:
Third House Sessions (January – March)
Chamber members meet monthly on Saturday mornings with their state senator and area representatives to discuss issues affecting our community. Watch the Chamber Advantage and Times-Mail for dates and locations. Annual
Chamber of Commerce Dinner (April)
Each year Chamber members come together to reflect on the year’s accomplishments and for the Chamber’s leaders to share their vision for the Chamber’s future. In addition, the Chamber presents its annual community service award, recognizes the semi-annual beautification winners and the board chairperson presents an award to an individual for outstanding service to the Chamber.
Annual Golf Outing (May)
The Chamber’s Annual Golf Outing is a great time to get together with co-workers or business associates and network with other Chamber members. Over 140 golfers play in this all day Florida-style scramble.
Business After Hours (Monthly)
The third Thursday of every month the Chamber co-hosts a business after hours with a sponsoring member. Business After Hours is strictly intended as a Chamber social function and networking opportunity, always lots of fun!
Seminars (Monthly)
The Chamber holds monthly seminars on a variety of subjects eliminating the high cost of out-of-town training for Chamber members. Seminars are also intended to serve as a networking tool for participants.
Area Festivals:
Limestone Heritage Parade and Festival -- Bedford
Built around the 4th of July holiday, Bedford’s Limestone Festival includes a parade with a military fly-over and a fireworks presentation. Also during the festival, the Lawrence County Art Association sponsors an art exhibit, highlighting local artists and their works. Contact: Susan Gales, Bedford Federal savings Bank (812) 275-5907
Mum’s the Word -- Bedford
The three-day festival in August features dozens of food, craft and commercial vendors set up on the Lawrence County Courthouse lawn and offers a variety of mums for purchase. Contact: Bedford Revitalization, Inc. (812) 275-8047
Persimmon Festival and Parade -- Mitchell
The Persimmon Festival is a well-established tradition in Mitchell drawing approximately six to eight thousand visitors per night. This week-long event is always held the last full week in September, the festival is more than 50 years old. The parade, always on the Saturday during the festival, is host to 35,000 to 40,000 spectators. Contact: Greater Mitchell Chamber of Commerce (812) 849-4441
Krankenhausfest -- Bedford
The Willkommen mat is set out one Saturday each October for the annual Krankenhausfest, a fundraiser sponsored by the Dunn Memorial Hospital Foundation. This event features a variety of craft booths, food and entertainment. Contact: Dunn Memorial Hospital Foundation (812) 276-1242
Bedford Festival of Lights and Christmas Parade -- Downtown Bedford and Courthouse Square
